Book Process

MY STORY
Echoes of immortality is a suspenseful book that I wrote, I made this book as a project for my creative writing honors class. For our first assignment we were tasked with reading a book of our choice. The book we chose we would use as inspiration for our own, and I chose to read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. I read this book because it was an amazing story that touched on the joining between science, ethics, and human experience. This book helped me in setting the conflict, location, and time period of my book. The main character Maya is a young black woman who works in the heart of New York City at Nexus, a Bio-tech company. She stumbles upon an old journal one day and the journal was filled with handwritten notes, diagrams, and sketches that detailed the experiments of a patient named Henrietta Lacks. As Maya dives deeper into this mysterious journal she finds dark secrets that lead into her life changing forever.
My story  develops as Maya Must confront her own doubts and fears as she starts a journey filled with twists and turns. She must stand up for what she believes is right, even in the face of overwhelming odds. I didn't encounter too many challenges when writing this book but one I  particularly had a hard time with was balancing my free time, regular school work, extracurriculars, and my honors work because I took all honors classes this semester.  This is where I felt like I  grew from this class because I solved this challenge by being more organized and setting up a daily planner using the app "todoist." This was really helpful and kept me on track for the most part.
